NASDAQ:SANW
OTC:TATYY

Tate & Lyle has (OTC:TATYY) announced a partnership with Sweet Green Fields Co. Ltd to collaborate in the production of a full range of stevia solutions for any application.

Tate (formed in 1869) and Lyle (1865) combined in 1921 to become one of the world largest sugar refiners. Due to pressure from the EC that favoured sugar beet with quotas on sugar from sugar cane the company diversified away from sugar refining (disposed of in 2010) into starch products and other chemicals and discovered Splenda in 1976, the leading artificial sweetener on the market.

Tate & Lyle has annual revenue of over $2.8 billion dollars and more than 4,000 employees.

Sweet Green Fields Co. Ltd (SGF) is a privately held company based in Bellingham, Washington. It states that it is an industry leader in the areas of plant breeding. propagation, growing and harvesting stevia on a worldwide basis. It is the first company to grow commercial stevia crops in the U.S. but the main production area is China.

It has a series of patents on stevia extracts.

S&W Seed (NASDAQ:SANW) had an agreement with Pure Circle similar to the relationship SGF has with Tate & Lyle. It is obvious that stevia is now a major force in the sweetener market which is the the benefit of companies like SANW.
